Online Therapy in Washington State

I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with couples and individuals throughout Washington, entirely online. Most of my clients are in their twenties and thirties, in the stretch of life where relationships, work, and identity are all shifting at once and the old ways of managing have stopped working.

Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, the islands, the parts of the state where finding a therapist who takes new clients means a months-long wait. Online means the list of people you can actually see isn't limited to who happens to be nearby.

Yes, I'm licensed in Washington

I'm based in California, so it's fair to ask whether I can actually treat you in Washington. I can. I hold a Washington marriage and family therapist license through the Washington State Department of Health, license #MFT.LF.61670709.

Washington's standards of practice apply to me the same way they'd apply to a therapist with an office in Seattle. You're working with someone the state licenses and holds accountable, not someone reaching in under a temporary arrangement.

We're in the same time zone

I see clients Tuesday through Friday, 9am to 4pm Pacific, which is exactly what those hours look like on your calendar too.

That sounds small until you've tried to coordinate across three time zones. No converting, no wondering whether daylight saving has shifted things, no 6am sessions. If a Wednesday at 2pm works for you, it works for me, and that's the whole conversation.

What we work on

Couples. Arguments that loop without ever resolving, intimacy that's gotten harder to reach, the slow slide into feeling more like roommates or co-managers than partners. I'm Level 3 Gottman trained and draw on PACT and EFT as the work calls for it. More on how I work with couples →

Individuals. Anxiety, relationship patterns that repeat across different partners, life transitions, and new parenthood. More on individual therapy →

Fees & insurance

Sessions are $275 for individuals and $300 for couples. I keep a limited number of sliding-scale spots for people who need financial flexibility. I don't bill insurance directly, though many Washington clients get partial reimbursement through out-of-network benefits, and I provide monthly superbills.

Common Questions

1

Do I need to be physically in Washington during our sessions?

Yes. Licensure follows wherever you're physically sitting at the time of the appointment, not where you live or where your insurance is based. If you're traveling to California, Arizona, Oregon, Texas, Florida, and Virginia, I'm licensed in all of those and we can usually keep meeting.

2

I live in Vancouver but work in Portland. Does that matter?

Not for us, which isn't true of most therapists. I'm licensed in both Washington and Oregon, so it doesn't matter which side of the river you're on when we meet. You can take a session from your desk in Portland one week and your kitchen in Vancouver the next.

3

How often do we meet?

Everyone starts with at least one 50-minute session per week. Consistency is what makes therapy work, and it is the honest answer about what the process actually asks of you.

A free 20-minute call to talk about what's bringing you in, how I work, and whether it feels like a good fit.
