Online Therapy in Virginia
I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with couples and individuals across Virginia, entirely online. Most of my clients are in their twenties and thirties, navigating the stretch of life where relationships, careers, and identity are all shifting at once, and the ways they used to handle things have stopped working.
Whether you're in Northern Virginia, Richmond, or somewhere along the coast, the work happens the same way: face to face over video, from wherever you actually feel comfortable talking.
Yes, I'm licensed in Virginia
I'm based in California, so it's a fair question whether I can actually treat you in Virginia. I can. I hold a full Virginia license through the Virginia Board of Counseling, license #0717002372.
That means Virginia's standards of practice apply to me exactly as they would to a therapist sitting in an office in Alexandria, whether we meet by video or in person. You're working with someone the Commonwealth licenses and holds accountable.
Appointment times that work for the East Coast
I see clients Tuesday through Friday, 9am to 4pm Pacific. In Virginia, that's noon to 7pm Eastern.
So the appointments that are hardest to get from a local practice, the late afternoon and early evening ones you can reach after work without taking time off, are ordinary midday slots on my calendar. You can book a session at 6pm Eastern on a Wednesday and still be done before dinner.
What we work on
With couples, it's usually the arguments that keep looping without resolution, intimacy that's become harder to reach, or the slow drift into feeling more like roommates than partners. I'm Level 3 Gottman trained and also draw on PACT and EFT. More on how I work with couples →
With individuals, it's most often anxiety, relationship patterns that keep repeating, life transitions, and new parenthood. More on individual therapy →
Fees & insurance
Sessions are $275 for individuals and $300 for couples, with a limited number of sliding-scale spots. I don't bill insurance directly, but many Virginia clients receive partial reimbursement through their out-of-network benefits, and I provide monthly superbills.
Common Questions
1
Do I need to be physically in Virginia during our sessions?
Yes. Licensure follows wherever you are sitting at the time of the appointment, not where you live or where your insurance is based. If you are traveling to a state where I am also licensed, which includes California, Washington, Oregon, Texas, Florida, and Arizona, we can usually keep meeting. Anywhere else we would need to reschedule.
2
I live in Virginia but work in DC. Does that matter?
It can. Because licensure follows where you physically are during the session, logging on from an office in DC rather than your home in Arlington falls outside my Virginia license. I am not licensed in DC or Maryland. For most clients this simply means taking sessions from home, or from anywhere inside Virginia.

How often do we meet?
Everyone starts with at least one 50-minute session per week. Consistency is what makes therapy work, and it is the honest answer about what the process actually asks of you.
