How will I pay for my sessions?

I accept all major credit cards including HSA and FSA benefit cards. I require a card be kept on file and you will be automatically charged after each session.

3

Do you take insurance?

While I do not bill insurance directly, I encourage you to see if your plan offers reimbursement for mental-health services. I will gladly provide a statement of services (aka superbill) for this purpose.

How often will we meet?

A regular drumbeat is an important part of successful therapy.  Imagine going to the gym every other week and then being frustrated that your body isn’t changing. Like with your physical body, it’s important to train the ‘muscles’ of your psyche frequently enough for change to happen.

We will find a time on the calendar and meet every week at this time.  And if you ever find that you have a conflict, you are welcome to reschedule by emailing me or visiting my client portal.

5

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to keep your appointment, I ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice. If you cancel an appointment with less than 48 hours notice, or miss a session without cancelling, you will be charged in full for the appointment. This includes unexpected illness, work/personal emergencies, and forgotten appointments.

Is therapy for me?

In my experience, just about anyone can benefit from therapy. While we explore your initial concerns and develop tools for managing those situation we will also be developing insight about you, your life, and your relationships that can be applicable no matter what comes your way.

What is therapy with you like?

My therapeutic style is collaborative, active, and strength-based. My work is informed by research, advanced certifications, and ongoing learning.  I like to work with people who are eager to make changes in their lives, relationships, or careers.

I look at our time together as a collaborative effort – a conversation in which we explore how you navigate your word. Typically we will spend the first few weeks getting to know each other. I will ask a lot of questions and take a lot of notes. Other times, a crisis is at the forefront and we will focus on developing tools and getting you to a grounded place.

Therapy is a confidential space, so I hope that you will speak freely about your concerns. Your emotions, opinions, and foul language are all welcome... whatever it takes to help you understand events and patterns so that you can approach your situation in a new way or with a new sense of ease.

I am not sure about online therapy. Do you provide in-person sessions?

My practice is 100% online.  The COVID-19 Pandemic hurdled us all into a world of virtual interaction and the therapy landscape quickly adapted. I have found online sessions to be just as effective as in-person therapy while allowing for a flexibility, convince, and level of privacy not offered by in-person therapy.  My clients join our sessions from all corners of California; options for scheduling are more plentiful given that we don't have to dedicate time to travel (or parking!); and they often report feeling more comfortable because they are in their own environment surrounded by the things that help them feel safe and grounded.
